DESCRIPTION: EPW - A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte, Deutsche Uhrenfabrikation (DUF) grade, 50mm, 14K gold original A. Lange & Söhne HC with gold cuvette, "Deutsche Uhrenfabrikation Glashütte I/S A. Lange & Söhne" marked white enamel SS dial, SW-LS with setting mechanism released by depressing button on pendant, lever escapement, 15J, gilt mvt, s#87825 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 53.4 dwt (83.1 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, winding and setting sometimes challenging as winding tends to disengage unless setting lever is given a firm press to its downward position and setting only engages if setting lever is firmly held against its uppermost position, overhaul recommended for this issue, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with some mild haze in areas, fine scratch to main plate above serial number, few specks of oxide to winding wheels; nearly flawless dial with only a few short micro-fine surface scratches, very light edge rub under bezel; excellent hands with some light tarnish; case front hinge is slightly loose so that lid tips very slightly forward with gravity, case shows little wear, scattered scratches and fine scratches, dent to band at 7, ding to band at 12:30, scattered dents and dings to rear and cuvette, front lid with small bit of play at hinge which is missing one end-cap; tight bow, crown shows light wear; plastic crystal with scattered fine scratches.

DESCRIPTION: EPW - A. Stroh, London, rare early ultra-thin watch, 42mm, 5.8mm front to rear thickness with crystal included, 18K gold OF original case bearing London hallmarks for 1854, incuse "W . F" marking for casemaker William Francis, engine turned and engraved gold dial, KWKS via a male key, lever escapement, possibly 17J, gilt mvt, no visible s#. Comes with an unmarked fitted leather box and comes with a male style winding key. Gross weight of assembled watch 24.1 dwt (37.5 g). A rare and visually impressive piece of strikingly thin profile; although August Stroh began his career as a watchmaker, he was to ultimately become an important figure in the early electrical industry as the chief mechanic for noted inventor Charles Wheatstone.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, numerous fine to micro-fine scratches with majority appearing to be from past key slips while setting; dial with scattered micro-fine scratches, some losses to printing of hour numerals; fine hands, hour is plum colored with areas of finish loss, minute and seconds-hand are blue; case shows little wear, fine to micro-fine scratches to rear, ding to edge near 6; tight bow; good glass crystal. DESCRIPTION: EPW - "Breguet a Paris" marked verge fusee of Continental manufacture, 48mm, 18K gold OF original case with superb polychrome enamel rear scene of a child and woman, white enamel dial with winding aperture at 2, KWKS, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, no visible s#. Gross weight of assembled watch 43.0 dwt (66.8 g). Some of the various Continental-made watches one sees bearing the Breguet name were indeed marketed, but not made by, Abraham Louis Breguet's firm in the Revolutionary period, but others were spurious products unassociated with the firm that aimed to dubiously capitalize on the name.
CONDITION: Mvt: NR, ticking in dial up position but stopping when turned dial down, overhaul needed, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent gilt tone, scattered fine scratches, some small deeper scratches; virtually flawless dial with two infinitesimal pinpoint flakes to rim of winding aperture hole; excellent hands; case shows little wear, no dents or dings, enameled rear scene is fully intact with only some mild fine scratches, enamel of rear perimeter surround with some damaged areas to upper portion which have been crudely patched with material which has yellowed, enamel detail of bezel with damaged areas to lower portion, left and upper portion which have been crudely patched with material which has yellowed; tight bow; good domed glass bull's-eye crystal.

DESCRIPTION: Unfinished ebauche, appears to be for an Abraham Louis Breguet "Souscription" exhibiting the distinctive layout of this type, consisting of plates, train, and a cylinder escape wheel, ebauche is held within a brass ring of 60mm diameter, s#4337 and s#229 marked to dial plate. A rare and fascinating piece of history for the Breguet collector.
CONDITION: Incomplete with components present/absent as pictured, plates with some darkening and spotting of surfaces, has a three digit number marked to dial plate and edge of brass ring.

Vanderslice Co. of New York, split-seconds chronograph, 47mm, 14K gold OF original JS (Jeannot & Shiebler) case with initials to rear, gold cuvette with 1902 presentation engraving, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, lever escapement, 16-17J, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#6850. Gross weight of assembled watch 51.7 dwt (80.4 g). This movement is of interesting design with its second wheel not located at center; the chronograph work is on the back plate with split mechanism under dial and with the main sweep going directly through the center and also having a cannon under the dial that carries the split.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good primary chronograph function but inconsistent split-seconds function with occasional good operation apart from reset being a few beats out of index but occasional failures to reset with hand moving only slightly or not at all, overhaul needed for consistent split-seconds function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some toning of plate surfaces, small marring tight around balance cock screw, few small fine scratches elsewhere; virtually flawless dial with few negligible very small micro-fine scratches; excellent hands, hour and minute are plum colored, subsidiary seconds-hand and sweep-seconds-hands are blue, split-seconds-hand with ample finish loss and some retouching in plum color, subsidiary seconds-hand with some oxide and finish loss; case shows little wear, very slight shallow ding toward right perimeter of rear, small ding to band at 9:30, good engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows very light wear; good glass crystal with some glue excess at its seat.

DESCRIPTION: EPW - Von Loehr patent Perpetual (self-winding) with winding indicator, with original instruction paper in German inside back, 48mm, silver OF original square case with ornate engraving detail, cuvette marked "Perpetual Patent No 26, Gottl Mueller," the latter being the owner's name [Gottlieb] which is in matching engraving, white enamel dial with constant seconds and winding indicator, gilt Louis XV style hands, continuous winding with weighted bob as well as option for manual winding by key, shift-locking-LS under bezel, lever escapement, at least 16J with jeweled bob, nickel damascene, mvt s#476, cuvette marked s#26. Von Loehr's patents were granted in Britain and the United States by 1879. Von Loehr's watch notably requires significant physical activity to remain wound, and Von Loehr noted that this was the precise advantage of the timepiece, that it would remind the wearer of the "evil of his ways by the failure of his timepiece to perform its duty by running down" and so it was a "monitor" of inactivity to promote the wearer's "general health." Von Loehr was actually ahead of his time with his fitness promoting ways, so for the watch collector looking for a little motivation to exercise, it's time to buy a Von Loehr and start jogging!
CONDITION: Mvt: Running after a sluggish start, good winding indicator function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some curved rub marks to main plate caused by self-winding arm, some typical micro-fine scratches elsewhere, steel click between barrel and self-winding ratchet with evident filing marks; nearly flawless dial with fine scratch and associated pinpoint surface nick below 12; excellent hands; case shows little wear, an attractive dark patina, few small nicks, no dents or dings, good engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with some short scratches and small surface nicks.
