Lot#: 84

DESCRIPTION: SPECIAL SHIPPING NOTE at end of description - Clock - Mahogany banjo clock, 8-day time only single bridge movement, iron Roman numeral dial has been over-painted with the signature added over a previous signature as well as glazed (see further description below), original barbed steel hands and bezel, gilded case with painted glass throat and door with chariot pulled by two horses against a rising sun, through bolt attachment to case, recoil escapement, brass pendulum, replacement key, measures approximately 33 inches x 10 inches x 4 inches and weighs 8 pounds. The dial has evidence of a previous signature that has been gone over and enhanced, with the entire dial being over-painted and glazed. The dial now shows as signed by "Aaron Willard," but it is difficult to tell what was originally beneath. The word "Boston" was added later in its life. The glaze was later added to the dial. The throat glass is original, but the painting on the door glass has been completed later. Also, there is evidence someone had later added a presentation at the base, which was later properly removed. The case and finial are original, but the gold gilt on the throat and base have been redone. NOTE: While this larger lot will be brought to the auction location, no shipping is available for absentee bidders. If purchased by a buyer not attending the auction, arranging shipping of this property is the responsibility of the buyer. Buyer may work with any independent shipper or Jones & Horan can recommend one. Buyer will need to complete the Authorized Release Form found on Jones & Horan's website.
